Harry Maguire has been withdrawn from the England squad for Nations League fixtures against Iceland and Denmark after his conviction for assault, resisting arrest, and attempted bribery in Greece.
The Manchester United centre back was included in Gareth Southgate’s squad when it was named at 2pm, with the Three Lions boss saying he had spoken to Maguire for his version of events.
But hours later the 27-year-old was found guilty at a trial in his absence in Greece and sentenced to 21 months and 10 days in prison, which will be suspended.
As a result Southgate has taken the United defender out of the squad for the double-header in September.
