With election day fast approaching, Sony Music Group is launching a new campaign to encourage voter registration and share resources about the voting process.
The non-partisan civic initiative, dubbed “Your Voice, Your Power, Your Vote,” will offer voting-related tools and resources for Sony Music Group employees, artists and songwriters to share across their networks. Additionally, Sony has announced that it will observe a full paid day off for all U.S. employees on election day, Nov. 3, to ensure that all employees have the opportunity to vote.
Election Day in the U.S. is right around the corner and we know there are many ways voters can make an impact,” said Sony Music Group’s newly-hired evp, philanthropy and social impact Towalame Austin. “We are a global company with headquarters in New York City, and we can help empower and mobilize our American artists, songwriters, employees and communities with the information and resources they need to make their voices heard.
“Especially in the midst of a pandemic, its critical that we all do our part to make registering and voting easier and more accessible for all,” she continued. “SMG is proud to use our platform and partner with others to support civic engagement and participation in the democratic process.”
Partners for the initiative include Rock the Vote, When We All Vote, Color of Change, Voto Latino, Movement Voter Fund, APIA Vote and The National Black Justice Coalition, with additional partners to be added in the coming weeks.
The campaign is part of Sony Music’s ongoing efforts to support social justice causes. In June, the company launched a $100 million fund for social justice and anti-racist initiatives around the world.
