Alan Irvine raves about two West Ham players who were ‘absolutely brilliant’ against Hull – Hammers News – West Ham United FC

Alan Irvine raved about West Ham duo Aji Alese and Harrison Ashby after last night’s demolition of Hull City in the Carabao Cup, as quoted by Football.London.
The Hammers’ plans were thrown into chaos just an hour before kick-off after Josh Cullen, Issa Diop and manager David Moyes all tested positive for Covid.

Alan Irvine took the reins for the game against Hull and the London Stadium.
West Ham fans were desperate for a win. There has been so much negativity floating around the club recently. Progressing through to the 4th round of the Carabao Cup was an absolute must.

And Irvine and the West Ham players duly obliged.
The Hammers were terrific to a man against the Tigers. We won the game 5-1 in the end. Experienced performers Andriy Yarmolenko and Sebastien Haller both shone whilst Felipe Anderson, Jack Wilshere and Manuel Lanzini all played their part.

But when speaking to reporters after the game, Irvine reserved special praise for two of West Ham’s brightest young talents, as quoted by Football.London:

“They were absolutely brilliant, performed at a really high level from start to finish. Obviously for Harrison his finish was a shame having to go off but fortunately he doesnt have a bad or serious injury which is what we were worried about. Absolutely delighted with them, they both played extremely well.”
Alese, 19 and Harrison, 18, both have tremendous potential and outstanding quality. They may well end up being regular starters for the Hammers within the next year or so.
They are both still slightly wet behind the ears. But the more they play in games like last night, the more they will learn.
With so many bad things happening at the club at the moment, it is sometimes easy to forget the good things.
And having Ashby and Alese breaking through right now is a real bonus for everyone involved with West Ham.
