Find Great Deals With Google’s New Price-Comparison Tool

Heres some good news for those of you dreading online shopping as the holidays approach: Google is making it easier to compare prices on Google Shopping.
Googles little portal of products will now show the lowest and highest prices a specific product ever hit, as well as how a particular stores price compares to others. Unlike other apps that only track certain stores, Googles price insights are pulled from all retailers in Google Shoppings listingsa pretty big list if youre looking to score a deal.
While this feature is still rolling out, which means you might not see it yet, here are the three ways to compare an items price via Google:

  • Find it in the Google Shopping mobile app (Android/iOS)
  • Search for it on shopping.google.com
  • Use a regular ol Google Search and click the Shopping tab at the top of the results page.

Select the product from the search results, and then check the new Typical prices across the web section. Youll see a range of available prices displayed as a blue bar, with the specific retailers current listing highlighted somewhere along the bar to indicate if its more or less expensive compared to other stores.
If youre happy with the price, click Visit Page to purchase the item from the retailers website, or click Buying Options to see what other stores are offeringincluding shipping and curbside pickup options. You can also toggle Track Price to set up price notifications if youd rather wait for a sale. All of your tracked products can be found in the My Activity menu in the Google Shopping app or shopping.google.com.
You also dont have to go through Google to find the best deals. There are plenty of other tools you can use to compare prices and save you money. Our favorites include CamelCamelCamel, which compares prices on Amazon; notification extensions like Visualping, which tell you when content changes on websites (like a price); and NowInStock, which is an incredible way to actually get your hands on hard-to-find products.
Juggling all these services could be a chore, so those who dont mind doing yet another online task through Googles ecosystem will probably enjoy how Google Shopping is simplifying price tracking.read more
