Southwestern public health confirms 11 new COVID-19 cases, nine resolved – The Kingston Whig-Standard

There were 11 new COVID-19 cases and nine recoveries in the region, Southwestern public health reported in its Monday update.
The new and resolved cases bumped the active count in the region to 62.
Woodstock had four new cases while Aylmer two reported new cases. Tillsonburg, Ingersoll, Blandford-Blenheim, Central Elgin and Zorra each had one new case in the past 24 hours.
Woodstock also had three resolved cases, while Aylmer, St. Thomas, Tillsonburg, Norwich Township, East Zorra-Tavistock and Blandford-Blenheim each had a resolved case.
Blandford-Blenheim Township also updated its website to note a person who visited the Plattsville Arena Nov. 18 between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. had tested positive for COVID-19.
The township noted the arena had “been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.”
Southwestern public health also reported eight new cases and nine recoveries on the the weekend.
Two cases at Northdale public school in Woodstock were marked as resolved by the province.
There was a 6.1 per cent absentee rate on Nov. 20 for students attending school in person in the health unit’s region.
Public health also reported that 2.6 per cent of people visiting area emergency departments last week had symptoms of fever, cough or shortness of breath.
There are 22 ongoing cases in Woodstock and 12 in Norwich Township. Aylmer has 10 active cases, while Ingersoll and St. Thomas each have five.
Tillsonburg has three cases while Central Elgin has two. Bayham, Blandford-Blenheim and Zorra each have one active case.
There have been 496 cumulative confirmed cases in the health authority’s region since the pandemic was declared. Of those, 429 have been resolved while five people have died.
The province announced 1,589 new cases were recorded in Ontario in the past 24 hours, along with 1,484 recoveries and 19 deaths.read more
