Since Disney+ launched in 2019, the streaming service has acquired over 86 million paid subscribers, and this month at Disneys Investors Day event they announced development on 100 new projects between 2021 and 2024. Out of those projects, 80% will be streaming on Disney+. So how will Disney keep up with their ambitious undertaking after the entertainment industrys financial losses this year? The company is raising its subscription prices. Here are some options for locking in the cheapest rates before the price hike.
Whats changing?
When the streaming service launched at $6.99 a month it felt too good to be true, and trends suggested a price increase was inevitable. Netflix has raised its fees every two years, with another increase on the way. (Sometimes I dont notice Amazon Primes increases until Im trying to figure out what I bought that was so expensive.) As predicted, on March 26, 2021, the Disney+ monthly fee will increase to $7.99, or $79.99 for the year.
Purchase a year in advance before March 2021
For the next three months, Disney+ prices will remain at $6.99 per month. You can keep their lower price by buying the $69.99 yearly subscription before March 26, saving $13.89 on the regular $6.99 monthly plan and $10 on the increased yearly fee after the jump.
Consolidate your streaming services
If you already have Hulu and Disney+, consider the Disney+/ESPN Plus/Hulu bundle to lower your overall streaming costs. Paying for each streaming service separately adds to $17.97 each monthbundling currently costs $12.99, saving you about $5 a month. The three-service bundle will rise in price to $13.99, but is still worth combining to save in the long run if youre using those services.

Verizon offers six months of Disney+ free with select Unlimited mobile plans for new accounts opened before May 31, 2021. After the free trial, $6.99 (plus tax) will be added to your Verizon phone bill. Its unclear whether this price would become $7.99 along with the new Disney+ price, but you can always cancel before the free months run out.
Share the costs
Disney+ allows up to seven different profiles on an account without additional fees, so you can share your Disney+ account with friends or family and split the fees. Plus, four profiles have the capability to stream at the same time without interruption.
