Music heavyweights to be part of Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony

Joe Biden’s inauguration as the next president of the United States is attracting more attention than that of most of his predecessors given the opposition provided by the White House’s current resident Donald Trump.
The ceremony will take place on Capitol Hill in Washington DC on Wednesday, January 20, with Biden and Kamala Harris sworn in as the next president and vice-president, respectively.
We’ve looked at some of the more curious details of the inauguration.
Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, better known as Lady Gaga, has been confirmed as the singer of the national anthem by the event organiser. She collaborated with Biden during the ‘Its On Us’ campaign against sexual violence at university.
JLo is one of the most influential voices of the Latino community in the United States. Alongside her husband, former baseball star Alex Rodriguez, she spoke out on the lack of support the Latino community had received during the coronavirus pandemic and has called for an economic restructuring in the US. During the inauguration, Lopez will head a music presentation.
Tom Hanks, Jon Bon Jovi, Demi Lovato and Justin Timberlake are among the other celebrities to attend the inauguration, while Andrea Hall, the first black woman to become captain of the South Fulton Fire and Rescue Department in Georgia, is also invited. She will recite the pledge of allegiance at the ceremony.
The ceremony will begin at 11:30 ET, which is 17:30 CET. It will be a traditional service, though there will be an increased security presence and much fewer public attendees.read more
