Delightful pop ups abound in Dilworth Park every winter. Folks can embrace the season by cruising around the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink, offering timed, 90-minute skating sessions; stroll through the Wintergarden on the Greenfield Lawn, an open-air wonderland of lights, topiaries and rustic decor perfect for photo ops; and relax in the Rothman Orthopedics Cabin, where seasonal cocktails and food await in an open-air set up. On Thursday, college students can enjoy $2 skating admission and $2 hot chocolates. Brush up on the parks latest safety protocols before visiting.

While the Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show has wrapped for the season, the shows 100,000 lights remain lit through the end of February during the extended Winter in Franklin Square, presented by Citizens. Also on offer through the end of February: outdoor mini-golf on the Chilly Philly Mini Golf course and spins on the Parx Liberty Carousel. To keep the festivities safe, look for reduced capacity at the park attractions, sanitizing stations, expanded seating options and more.

Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest one of Phillys favorite winter traditions has brought the seasonal spirit back to the Delaware River waterfront for another year. The winter wonderland offers guests a chance to go skating at the citys largest outdoor rink and cozy up at one of the warming cabins and fire pit stations all while overlooking the Delaware River. This winter, the Fairmount Park Conservancy is encouraging folks to get out and discover the hidden gems of one of Phillys best green spaces during the WinTOUR Scavenger Hunt. The free, all-ages and social-distancing-friendly scavenger hunt features five different routes, each with a theme: historic homes, public art, nature, water, and past & present. Participants who complete the 80 missions before the last day of winter (March 19) win a membership to the Fairmount Park Conservancy. Happy exploring!

Screenprinting artist-in-residence Jonathan Lyndon Chase shows their first solo exhibition, Big Wash, at the recently reopened Fabric Workshop & Museum. Focused on the public/private space of laundromats, the exhibit feature paintings, drawings, video and soft sculptures. Chase, a Philadelphia native, produces work about Black queer domestic intimacy.

Philadelphias prestigious art school and museum debuts three exhibitions on Thursday that highlight local artists and celebrate women. Only Tony: Portraits by Gilbert Lewis features 25 paintings the Philadelphia artist created of a human model; and Roll, Press Pull: Contemporary Works from the Brandywine Workshop and Archives showcases pieces from the printmaking workshop for multiethnic artists a gift to the museum from generous collectors. The third exhibit, Taking Space: Contemporary Women Artists and the Politics of Scale, features works by more than 50 women and honors the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, which granted some American women the right to vote.

A quick stop at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Educations Visitor Center is all you need for a day of wooded exploration this Saturday. Themed self-guided tour kits available during Schuylkill Saturdays help adventurers of all ages navigate the natural environment. Kits are available between 10 a.m. and noon, and this weekends themes are movement and sunlight. Dont forget your mask when you stop into the visitor center!

In the lead up to the Lunar New Year (February 12), West Phillys Penn Museum is taking a deep dive into Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Tibetan cultures during the super-informative (and all-virtual) CultureFest! series. This week, kids can create a legendary creature from home while learning about Chinese dragons during a free live learning session (Tuesday), and adults are encouraged to find a refreshment for a happy hour living room lecture from an associate curator of the museum’s Asia section, who will speak on Buddhist sculptures, Mongolian woodblocks and more (Thursday).
