Following a tumultuous couple of months, the city of St. John’s has signed a lease agreement with the Newfoundland Growlers to play at Mile One.
The three-year lease was signed yesterday.
The news comes after back and forth between the two groups that played out in the public eye after it was announced that the St. John’s Edge would not be returning for the upcoming season.
That back and forth fell silent as the two sides negotiated the lease.
Deacon Sports and Entertainment, the organization that owns the Growlers, says while they are focused on the season ahead, they will provide a media availability in the coming weeks to demonstrate their “long-term commitment and further investment in professional sports teams and facilities in the region.”
