The Medium Up For Pre-Order For Xbox Series X, Steam

The Xbox Series X will launch later this year with what looks to be a chilling and unique psychological horror experience: The Medium, a third-person horror game featuring dual-reality gameplay. The game comes from developer Bloober Team, the makers of Blair Witch, Layers of Fear, and Observer, and it’s available to pre-order now so you’re ready to play it on day one.
In the game, you play as a medium named Marianne who lives in two worlds–the human world and the spirit world. After seeing visions of a young girl’s murder, Marianne travels to an abandoned hotel to search for the truth about what happened there years ago. As the medium, you’ll experience the game from two different perspectives, and you’ll explore both the physical and spiritual world simultaneously with both displayed on your screen.
The Medium’s dual gameplay
Marianne’s movement through the two worlds is controlled by a single analog stick, but you’ll have to interact with the two environments in different ways and solve puzzles to explore various paths. Marianne has different abilities in the spirit world, including one called Out of Body. The trailer also shows her using some kind of light shield in the spirit realm to protect herself.

The Medium pre-order bonuses (Steam only)
Pre-order bonuses for The Medium have only been announced for Steam.
Oddly enough, pre-order bonuses have only been announced for Steam at this time. On Steam, pre-order bonuses for The Medium include the game’s original soundtrack, which features a “dual” score soundtrack by composer Akira Yamaoka, known for composing various Silent Hill games, and Bloober Team’s Arkadiusz Reikowski. You’ll also receive a digital artbook for The Medium. It’s unclear if exclusive pre-order bonuses for Xbox Series X will be announced at a later date.
So far, only one edition of The Medium is available for pre-order.
